JOHN HALE POEM

Taughannock Moon
September Moon 2009

Moonrise on Cayuga's waters.
After a few moments, colors
ripple, flow and scallop moving
along the surface gliding
as we do on the twilight.

Darkness around Taughannock Point.
Careful dip the paddle, feel
the rise and fall of the boat.
The darkness requires a relaxed,
patient, attention like the point light
as it winks its red eye on and off
with steady intervals of wakefulness.
